In my case, that meant quitting my insurance agent job and moving on to something I was more passionate about. The Reasons I Quit Being An Insurance Agent

I have been an insurance agent for over 10 years and have always loved the job. However, there are some reasons why I decided to retire this year.

1) The amount of work required has decreased drastically over the years. In my early days as an agent, I would be working 12-16 hour days. Nowadays, it is typical for me to work 8-10 hours a day, with some overtime thrown in here and there.

2) There is little to no financial incentive to continue being an insurance agent. In most cases, the commission that agents earn is not anywhere near what they would make working in other industries.

3) The industry itself is becoming less and less profitable. A lot of major insurance companies are going out of business, which means that the amount of commissions that agents can earn is decreasing every year.

4) The company I work for has been slowly dying for a few years now and it does not seem like things are going to get any better in the future. The company has been bought by another company recently, but it seems like this new company does not really care about insurance agents and our job status.

What to do if You Quit Being an Insurance Agent

If you have decided that being an insurance agent is not what you want to do in life, there are a few steps you can take to transition out of the profession. First, make sure you have all your documentation ready to go. This includes your license, insurance ID card, and any other paperwork needed for your business. You can also ask your current clients to keep records of your contact information in case they need to reach out to you in the future. Finally, be sure to pack up any promotional materials you may have used while working as an agent and dispose of them properly.

After giving it some more thought, I realized that being an insurance agent wasn’t the right career for me. Truth be told, it was tough going from making good money to dealing with people’s issues on a daily basis; and ultimately, I found my true passion in life.
