The line continued to operate until 1931 when the decline of the logging industry led to its closure. In 1948, the line was re-opened as a cargo ferry between Oak Harbor and Quinault, Washington. In 1971, the line was purchased by Pacific Western Transportation Company and operated as a freight ferry until 1987. The line closed for good in 1988 after being damaged by a fire.
